Bodhi 4.0.0 Alpha Release

Not only is our first 4.0.0 alpha release here – but it is here relatively on schedule. If all goes according to plan we will have something stamped as stable before September hits. I would just like to be clear that this is far from a polished / finished product. I would encourage anyone wanting to write a review to wait to do so until our stable release. If you are not someone who is interested in helping find issues please wait as well.

To get right down to it – this release has the following known issues:

  • No Bootsplash
  • The Installer brings up a password prompt – just click OK to continue
  • Some extra menu entries are present. Feel free to manually remove them.
  • Many others I have yet to find

This release is also only coming in 64bit flavoring. The final Bodhi 4.0.0 release will include 32bit and non-PAE releases still. Hopefully with the beta release early next month I will have these other variations put together, but for now just 64bit is included with this alpha release. You can download the ISO image from source forge here. Please take the time to verify the MD5sum (232158de7a47ea28f5f651c36d7a589b) matches before reporting any issues. The primary purpose of this release is to start testing the Moksha desktop on the new Ubuntu 16.04 base to ensure there are not any unforeseen issues with this.

If you do run into an issue please open a thread in the Bodhi 4 section of our user forums.

Cheers & Happy Testing,
