I think Bodhi deserves more donations for all the hard work. I look forward to the new version.

  2. BB says:

New Bodhi user here. It’s nice to see a clean, simple distro that’s not crammed with apps that I don’t want. I will use & recommend Bodhi!

  3. Jash says:

I used Bodhi in the past but moved to a different distro due to my love for XFCE+compiz. Will there be any compiz like effects in the Bodhi 5.0 (I am really looking to make bodhi my daily desktop)?

    • Bodhi does not, and will not, have compositing by default. We keep Ecomorph (compiz for Moksha) in the repositories you can install though.

      • Jash says:

Thanks for the info Jeff, are there any instructions how to install/configure the ecomp? Also will it be supported with Bodhi 5.0?

        • Assuming it is compatible with Ubuntu 18.04 based libraries it will continue to be built.

As for an install guide – unsure if there is one about off hand. Feel free to create a forum thread if you have trouble getting it going.

  4. Since most of the Ubuntu changes in alfa-beta-RC are manager related…
I wonder if the ‘process’ could not be easier (though prolonged):

    – As long as 18.04 alfa is available an Bodhi alfa can start (not to post).
    – This delivering a faster Bodhi Beta after a reasonable Ubuntu beta is available.
… This being how all Ubuntu ‘tastes’ are made. Bodhi being equivalent.

Meaning a faster RC release, shortly after Ubuntu final is available.
    Just wonder… (sharing).

    • We have a longer timeline intentionally. Historically speaking Ubuntu LTSes always have some amount of issues until they hit their .01 release. People who value stability should generally wait till then to make the change, which is why the first time we flag a “stable” release is after this.

Past all of that – we are a small team working as a hobby – so a longer time frame gives us more flexibility, while also giving our users more stability.
